Pleasant sandy beaches and wading birds take on peach hues as sun drops down to the west over America's oldest seaside resort town, Cape May, a destination known best for its shoreline but worth note for its heritage sights.
With nearly 49,000 objects and artworks in its permanent collection, the Morris Museum offers visitors a fine introduction to a range of cultural artifacts, from dolls and decorative arts to textiles, paleontological finds and fine art. In addition to paintings and sculptures by European and American artists of the past two centuries as well as a number of pieces by contemporary artists working in New Jersey, there is also a selection of fascinating antique toys sure to keep younger visitors enthralled. Be sure to have a look at some of the historic mechanical musical instruments (like player pianos) on show in the recently added gallery space from the Murtogh D Guinness collection.
