Home to the ivy-leauge school of the same name, Princeton, New Jersey, has the expected population of youthful collegiates but also offers access to a range of outdoor activities, from hiking and golfing to kayaking and bird-watching.
An industrial community of the 19th century comes back to life between blacksmith shop and farm house, row homes and general store on the grounds of the Historic Village at Allaire, an open-air attraction that provides visitors with a glimpse of the time courtesy of historic buildings and period-costumed actors. From education to quilting, sewing to splitting wood, visitors are treated to fresh perspective on what it was really like back before the coming of computers and cell phones. Events are hosted here in season, check the calendar for information.
