Perth Amboy is located just across the Raritan River from Staten Island, New York and is both an industrial and port city. Known as the City by the Bay, Perth Amboy has a population of 47,000, and can be considered urban living, yet still has a prevalent colonial feel, suggestive of its history. The water front is currently being remodeled into condos and apartments as well as an entertainment, and retail district.
Visit Perth Amboy's Proprietary House, the only colonial-era governor's mansion still remaining in the original thirteen colonies. Kearny Cottage is an 18th century cottage, once home to the city's most prominent families before the American Revolution.
Perth Amboy is located along the eastern border of New Jersey, and is accessible via the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike. NJ Transit and Amtrak also make stops through the port town and Newark Liberty International Airport is in nearby Newark.
